It is well with my soul

Wow it has been a hot second since I have been on here; and I truly do miss it. I have been totally consumed in finding a job, succeeding in school, and keeping my relationships in good standing. So much to juggle it seems like.

I wanted to talk about a song in this blog post and a huge reference in the Christian world. One of my favorite sayings and something that touches my heart every time I say it is; IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL.

The reasoning behind this post is because of one of my professors playing Even If by MercyMe to start class. I love this song and LOVE MercyMe. While the song was playing (and everytime the song plays) I can literally feel Jesus moving through me.

IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL

What is the meaning behind this statement? Well the original hymn was written by someone who went through great trials. Through all the pain and circumstances, he trusted in God. This song is proclaiming that even though we go through so many things daily we need to be at peace. Who can give us this peace? Our Lord and Savior.

By saying it is well with my soul we are saying no matter the circumstances, trials, pain, hurt, suffering… HE IS THERE FOR US AND WILL TAKE OUR HURTS AWAY.

Throughout the song Even If; the main singer is saying that he sings great songs about getting hurt and trusting and God. He proclaims that it isn’t easy in Even If. He says there are many trials in life where trusting in God can be so difficult. When singing these songs, he is basically talking to himself as well. That Even If we don’t trust and God and do what we are supposed to do; HE WILL STILL GIVE US PEACE. Even When we are revolting and hating against God, HE WILL STILL GIVE US PEACE. These trials are temporary for the eternity of salvation we are guaranteed by remaining faithful in Him.

I hope this blog post made sense, came from the heart. I hope each own of you allow God to just take over and bring you deep peace within. I hope you understand that everything is not going to always be perfect, or even ok; there will be trials, circumstances, and pain throughout every one of our journeys. Things will be difficult and there will be challenges that really test us. BUT IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL BECAUSE OF HIM WHO TAKES AWAY.

I will be praying for clarity, peace, understanding, and the feeling of God’s presence on each of our lives. This week has been super stressful for me; BUT God has showed me his light throughout each situation.

The scripture I wanted to share is Psalm 62:5-6 The Message (MSG)

5-6 God, the one and only—

I’ll wait as long as he says.

Everything I hope for comes from him,

so why not?

He’s solid rock under my feet,

breathing room for my soul,

An impregnable castle:

I’m set for life.

I pray now for all of the people reading this post. I pray for clarity and understanding as we go through challenges. I pray that you Lord will give us strength and peace in our everyday situations. And I pray that you will continue to just wrap us in your love, and just comfort us through our life circumstances. I thank you for all you do for us Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
